Competition SquadThe Squad is an extension of England Wado-Kai Karate-Do Renmei (EWKR) and is registered with the Federation of Wado-Kai Europe (FWE) as being the official Wado-Kai representative mandate for England. EWKR is a member of FWE, and the Squad represents EWKR in international competitions such as FWE European Championships, Kayl Cup in Luxembourg, and other high profile competitions. We welcome clubs nationally to come together and train for one purpose – participating, promoting and regulating the Wado-Kai style and to build a better squad to enter competitions nationally and internationally. Once a year our squad competes in the FWE European Championships, which changes country location each year. The Squad is comprised of athletes selected from a number of clubs throughout England. Our squad is inclusive, diverse and accessible to our fellow Wado practitioners. We are a not-for-profit organisation and any proceeds/funds raised by the Squad go towards the continued development of Wado-Kai karate in England and to the development of it’s squad members. Rules & Registration for becoming a Squad MemberClubs and Individuals are welcome to attend a trial session, however Squad training is for members only. Therefore, continued training would require a Club or Individual to become a full member or an Associate member of EWKR. Please contact the EWKR General Secretary (Julie Franklin) for membership options. Once your club is a member/associate member, then individuals can apply for their own squad training card. There is an annual fee of £10 and a consent form for students or parents to fill out. For this you will receive an Squad training card which you will need to keep for the current year. The consent form will ask you to sign and agree to abide by our policies. • EWKR Safeguarding Policy The information on the consent form will not be passed on to any third party but for the purpose of facilitating Squad training sessions, selections and competitions. Selections Although there is no minimum criteria for training. In order to be considered for selections you must meet the following criteria: Squad Training SessionsOur squad training sessions are conducted on a monthly basis, 9/10 times a year. We rotate the venues across England. Each training session usually involves an hour of individual kata training, an hour of team kata training and an hour of kumite training. This allows members to practise all aspects of competition. Please visit the England Wado-Kai Competition Group Facebook page for the latest training session dates. Squad Training Dates*
